Key benefits of D activated gas geysers
Budget-Friendly Choice
Diaphragm activated geysers are typically less expensive to buy and maintain than more complex models.
Simple and Reliable
Built with basic time-tested technology, these geysers offer a dependable hot water source with minimal maintenance needs.
No electricity? No problem!
Battery ignition allows these geysers to operate on any high pressure water source, even during load-shedding.

Safety Features
Flame Failure Safety Device (FFD)
This intelligent safeguard acts as a watchful guardian. If the flame dies, the FFD automatically cuts off the gas supply, preventing leaks and potential hazards.
Pressure Relief Protection
Dewhot geysers feature a pressure relief valve that acts as a safety release. If pressure builds beyond safe limits, the valve automatically opens, releasing excess pressure and safeguarding your geyser from damage.
Diaphragm Activated Gas Geyser FAQs
A diaphragm-activated geyser is a manually operated system (the user must adjust their gas and water flow) that works on a high-water pressure activation system. As water flows into the geyser, it pushes against the diaphragm, which hydrostatically opens the microswitch, this then activates the control box to ignite the gas to heat the water.
Diaphragm Activated units are designed for single use only, requiring a stable water flow rate to maintain ignition and temperature. If two or more taps are opened at the same time, the change in flow can cause the water temperature will drop.
The easiest way to determine a minimum flow rate for a diaphragm-activated gas geyser is to divide the unit’s capacity by 2. So, if you have a 12L geyser, you will need a minimum of 6L per minute to activate it. A 10L geyser would require 5L per minute, etc.
Yes, Diaphragm Activated gas geysers are known for their ease of fault diagnostics, repairs and maintenance. In many cases, troubleshooting issues can even be done over the phone with a qualified Dewhot technician. For preventative maintenance, we recommend a thorough cleaning every 18 to 24 months to remove dust buildup. Additionally, some users place mothballs and rat pellets within the geyser to deter insects. (Note: Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for any maintenance procedures).
These stainless steel geysers function well in coastal environments, but a little extra protection is recommended. Even stainless steel geysers can be susceptible to rust damage from salty air over time. We highly recommend adding a rust-protective coating to your geyser during installation to ensure long-lasting performance. We’d be happy to provide this service upon request.
Remember that all outdoor gas geysers must be installed with a weatherproof cover to honour the warranty ad extend the lifespan of the geyser.
